I broke the LCD in my pocket purely from tension from my jeans and my leg. No contact with anything else. A hard case may help but you shouldn't need it. Mobile telephony should be enjoyed, hence, high -end phone like s4 didn't come as a surprise. Though its light, you won't know what you are carrying. S4 is the best, but, you have don't mess it up with carelessness. Good quality polycarbonate is what you want surrounding a glass screen and fragile micro electronics, not aluminum or magnesium alloy.
How many projector carry cases do you see made of solid steel or aluminum without heavy padding? My iPhone 4 shattered when I tossed it underhanded onto a table wood with a soft tablecloth. My Galaxy Note, S3 and S4 have all gone through the same treatment and worse with no issues. The Samsung is the more durable by a mile, IMO. You can also easily replace the back face if it cracks. You need to clarify that picture in picture video "Dual shot" is not possible with 3rd party apps or other phones page 4.
As its written is seems it not possible with the S4. The Dual shot mode I see as very useful, but only in video. Makes interviews very easy!! You can have you in the top right asking questions in video, while the person your talking to is present answering the questions. Similarly great for demo work too.

Your talking about something and showing the video of the object or what your fixing or manipulating. This I think is the First single camera capable of interview video. It should be there. Sensor size, along with lens focal length both real AND equivalent and speed both real AND equivalent , are the numbers that specify the upper limits for image quality as well as what can be expected. We'll see if that'll change now with the new Nokia and maybe Sony on their way,. I have this phone. The camera is very spotty. I'd rather have 2mp with decent low light performance.

Huge grainy file. HTC tried that with the One and I did not go too well. With the Samsung at least you can always downsample the file if you want to. The HTC One has got universally positive reviews and is the 3 top selling phone behind the iphone and samsung. It has frequently been described as the best android phone ever. Not sure why you said "I did not go too well". Freudian slip? The Koreans greased you to not go well with HTC? You're confusing the sales success of a phone as a whole with the qualities of the camera.

In good to medium light, the camera of the One lags behind most competitors by some margin, in low light, it's pretty similar to some of the others, including the S4. See for example this blind test at the same output size done amongst hundreds of people Google Translate will help out: I wouldn't say it's terrible but I think I would personally prefer the S4 camera. Downsample the 13MPix file to 4Mpix and you'll see the difference.
S4 is far better. The best would be Nokia 's camera app. I agree but that doesn't make our statement incorrect. We listed this as a pro by the way With their high noses, they would now be beating around the bushes how to copy such that no body says they copied.. Is there anywhere a comparison with the S3, image-quality wise? So that S3 users get an idea if photo-wise, the S4 is smarter?
I didn't read all pages, but i checked the conclusion page and the iq page and i didn't see the S3 mentioned, or am i wrong? We compared the S4 to the current generation of high-end phones as the S3 has been on the market for much longer now. However, you'll find plenty of samples and analysis in our S3 review from last year: You can add a camera shortcut to the lockscreen without the need of 3rd party apps or rooting, it's just a simple settings change.
Here are a few ways to do it: Wow, you guys are fast. I see it's already removed from the list of "The Bad" on the conclusion page. Why are these called phones? They are mobile computers, the calling capability is just an add-on. I have this phone and find that in good light the camera does a fine job. See my gallery for a few examples. Is this one of your examples, Chris? I have the S3 and haven't been very happy with it. I was thinking of waiting for the iphone 6, then I come across this article http: I know it won't be for a few years but it makes you wonder.

And in these situations, having a larger sensor—not more megapixels—can mean the difference between a clear shot and a black photo. The Galaxy S3 completely failed this test, while the Galaxy S4 captured an impressively clear image with very little noise or color distortion. The Lumia also came out looking clear, though the photo had a very bluish cast to it. So taking photos in dark environments usually results in some bad-looking images, but what if you turn on the flash? Most smartphones these days come with flash capabilities, though the results are often less than spectacular; subjects tend to show up blown out or, worse, like Kermit the Frog.
Unfortunately, this test lacked a clear winner. The HTC One made our subject look like a cardboard cutout, and the photo taken with the Lumia looks like it was pulled from someone's Instagram feed, filters and all. The iPhone 5, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy S4 fully illuminated the scene to varying degrees, but the Galaxy phones—particularly the Galaxy S4—seemed to do a better job at bringing out the features on our subject's face.
This test was even harder to judge—not because the photos were bad, but rather the opposite problem—most of them came out looking like something we'd frame and put up in the house. Pretty much all high-end smartphones can take a decent macro photo, but very few are capable of capturing images with the clarity and colors you'd get from a stand-alone camera. The HTC One was our favorite the last time we ran this test , but the photo it produced this time around looked washed out.

The Lumia did a good job with the finer details of the flower, however the leaves in the image came out looking more blue than green. The petals in the image produced by the Galaxy S3 were a little too vibrant for our tastes, but the photo still looked good. The photos taken with the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 were by far the most balanced of the bunch with the highest color accuracy and the greatest amount of detail.
For this test we had our model, Leonard, pose for us outside to see how well the phones would perform with, among other things, skin tones when taking pictures under the bright sun. The HTC One's photo also had a strange cast to it that left our subject looking unnatural. Both the Lumia and Galaxy S4 did an excellent job at handling skin tones, however we have to give a slight nod to the Galaxy S4 for producing less noise around our subject. As the above images show, the camera on the Samsung Galaxy S4 is nothing to scoff at: The phone can more than hold its own against the current crop of smartphones when it comes to taking photos in nearly any setting.
The iPhone and Lumia still outclass it, in some respects, but it's safe to say that the Galaxy S4 camera is an adequate step up from the camera in last year's Galaxy S3. Coupled with its wide variety of shooting modes, the Galaxy S4 is a good choice for people looking for more functionality than what's offered on the Nokia and Apple handsets. This story, "How good is the camera on the Samsung Galaxy S4? You can use tick boxes at the bottom to add or remove instances of the subject to get some control over the finished image. The resulting image, in The most straightforward of the oddball shooting modes, Sound and Shot simply captures 9 seconds of audio with the image.
We're not quite sure what the point is over simply capturing a short video clip and the fact you can't share the combined image and audio online makes it even more pointless. Two variations on a theme. Best Photo simply takes a short burst of eight shots and then you can pick which of them if any you want to keep by putting a thumbs up on a thumbnail.
It's a great way of getting the best shot using burst mode, but without cluttering your phone with loads of almost identical images. Best Face is a variation on this, with face detection used. It takes five shots in quick succession and then you can choose which face you want from each shot.
It allows you to combine the exposures so that in a shot with multiple subjects you can get them all smiling and with their eyes open. Genuinely handy for group shots. In both modes it's quicker than the S3's take on the same functions, with the thumbnails appearing almost as soon as the last frame is snapped.

A separate app from the camera but one that allows you to select pictures from your gallery, or have them selected for you based on GPS location and date, and then create picture albums from them. Initially these are just virtual albums that you can page through on your phone, but you can also order physical copies if you wish directly from the handset. It all works fairly well, but you can't fine tune it in the same way as you can with many online album creators.
